D.O.G.S. Final Round at Rainbow Hills Golf Club

Updated: Jun 27, 2023

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!

So, we came to our final round for this year at Rainbow Hills with the Little, Mini and Big Dogs out to play - and the Blue Jacket, of course.

49 players made the journey up the hill making a total of 290 rounds of golf over the 6 weeks with 113 different players. Some newcomers as usual, and some old faces we haven't seen for a while. A big welcome to Tony & Helena McCormack and Niklas Saari and welcome back to Jari Antikainen, Pekka Alamattila, Bastian Armbruster, Dennis Kuehne, Roberto Daniele and Irene Palatta - always good to see old faces back - but don't leave it so long please! Note: the Finnish contingent decided to celebrate their mid-summer festival with us - not that they need much excuse to celebrate anything!.

Given the status on the Eclectic Leaderboard after last week we were all eager to see the outcome - however the golfing management at Rainbow let us down by putting painfully slow groups in front of the D.O.G.S. on the Forest course and by allowing a morning tournament to run very late. Whilst this did not affect our groups which started on Stone too much it did significantly impact those starting on Forest...This issue was raised with the senior management at Rainbow and they assured us this will never happen again - let's see - they have offered some compensation in the form of vouchers for those most affected. I can only apologize for what happened and I can assure you that the D.O.G.S. management will strive to impress on the management at Rainbow that this must NOT happen again - I can only thank you for your understanding.

Anyway - let's get down to business: With just over half of us completing a full 18 holes we decided to run the weekly tournament as usual - of course, all completed holes count towards the Eclectic anyway irrespective of whether you completed your round or not.

Jude Alexander and Chris Barnett took the Nearest to the Pin prizes with Sam Westen and Juju Juhaeriah - again - taking the Longest Drive prizes and Steve Sutton and Srinivas Murthy the Drive & Pitch honours. No Putting Champion this week but Pekka Alamattila clearly celebrated the Finnish Festival a bit too much taking this week's Booby Prize and Paul Barnett added to his Booby Prize of last week by taking home the Most Exercise Trophy this week - well done mate!

Reysia Moore has to settle for the Runner Up honour this week leaving Srinivas Murthy, who had one of his best rounds, taking both the Lowest Gross and Little Dog becoming this week's Champion.

A big congratulations to all this week's winners.

Is Jens in the house?

and the winner is?

So, to the Eclectic results.....well, as we so often see the final result goes right down to the wire and there's frequently a surprise in store....this Series was no exception with Sarah Brown just managing to make the improvements she needed to jump from 6th place last week to top of the leaderboard this taking her second Big Dog and Blue Jacket. Minn Tun was the Mini Dog Runner Up and Steve Sutton taking the Mini Dog home for third place.

Sam Westen played a very consistent set of rounds to take the Lowest Gross Average Trophy.

Please check out the full standings on our Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app.

A big congratulations to all the winners!

Our Charity Barrel collected IDR 5.000.000 which will go to the Fiona Foundation - just a gentle reminder that we try and target IDR100k per person over the 6 weeks please - giving to charity is an important part of what we try and do as a society - thanks.

With fun being the main goal of the day players can be forgiven for forgetting D.O.G.S. rounds are tournament rounds. Here is a good article explaining "15 golf rules you definitely need to know when playing in a tournament".
