D.O.G.S. First Round at Imperial Klub Golf

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!

So after 8 years we ventured back to Imperial Klub Golf as can be seen from the Sunset Bar - at least when someone's not standing in the way! There was some reference to "My heart will go on" to this photo and given the rain we had during the round a rather apt comment - however JB is not standing on Sarah's shoulders!

Here's the uninterrupted view. So we had a total of 39 players for our first round including newcomers Angel Barcena and welcome back to Alberto Gonzales, Jim Korbilas and Carol Lindsay whom we haven't seen for a while - welcome and welcome back and hope we see you much more often.

On a sadder note, we said goodbye - or should it be "au revoir" to Koko and Honey who are moving to Malaysia. You will be sorely missed not only each week but as valued members of our Interleague Team.

The club gave us a semi shotgun start so everyone got off in good time. The rain threatened and threatened and eventually came pretty much flooding the course and causing a delay of around 1 hour mid-round. Not to worry, thanks to the shotgun, everyone got going again once the storm cleared and the course drained very quickly resulting in everyone finishing in reasonably good time.

Now to the play: Eric Mary and Avnish Patankar showed us the accuracy of their tee shots by taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes whilst Jim Korbilas and David Moore showed us similar accuracy with their approach shots taking the Drive & Pitch honours.

Jeremy Oberoi and Holger Molendyk managed to take the Longest Drive prizes. It was apparently the first Longest drive for Holger for some 5 years - well done Holger - looking forward to the next one without their cart path assist!

A special mention to Terence Martin who managed to Eagle the 11th hole - no mean feat! - our third Eagle of the year, the other two both going to TPS at Pondok Cabe and Rainbow Hills.

Carol Lindsay and Steve Lowry had slightly longer days than the rest of the field taking this week's Booby and Most Exercise prizes - at least it's a prize!

Gaurav Shirke had an almost perfect day being this week's Putting Champion, Lowest Gross and Runner Up winner but Avnish "Mr Tasty Greens" Patankar showed that eating your greens does you good by becoming this week's Champion taking his first Little Dog - congrats Avnish.

Congrats to all our prize winners.

Being only the first round of the Eclectic series not too much to report other than to say Gaurav leads the way but with a strong pack chasing him already. The full standings can be seen through the links on our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app as usual.

Last Sunday saw the latest round int the Inter-league with Captain Dougie's Team taking on the Tin Cups. The weather conditions at Riverside were good for golf, a bit hot to start but no rain. Course was in better condition than last time, with most greens running a little slower due to overnight rain

There were many highlights in the matches, and quite a few turned in good personal performances.

Hitoshi had a good day at the office and declared nothing special to report, only a 6 & 5 win with 3x birdies, the modesty of the low handicappers!

Dave had another solid game with the icing being the sinking of a 50 foot putt

Sarah had an exceptional chip in birdie on the 1st hole

Rey held her nerve to hole out for par to win the hole and clinch the match on 16th hole

Results:

D.O.G.S. 8 Tin Cups 2

  • Hitoshi beat Pancho 6/5

  • Dave beat Claudio 3/2

  • Axel and Sarah beat Robert and David B 4/3

  • Douglas and Rey beat Vishal and Zahren 3/2

  • Malcolm and Kevin lost to Shaun and Mike 6/5

Great result guys and many congratulations - fingers crossed for the next round.

As usual, we are collecting for our Charity each week and we will announce shortly which charity we will be donating too. Please do make any suggestions any of you may have for charities we can support going forward - we are always open to new suggestions and introductions.

So, now we head into the second round at Imperial Klub Golf. Hopefully we will have a shotgun start again so it's important to arrive at the course in good time - thanks.
