Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
So, we came to our penultimate round for our first Eclectic Series of the year with all to play for, it seems!. Another great turnout with an extra flight so a total of 43 players made the journey to Karawaci and we were not disappointed, with yet another perfect afternoon, weather wise.
The usual guests and faces we haven't seen for a while - so a big welcome to Neil Marchi and welcome back to Romas Djailani, Detlef Blumke and Sri Sollfrank - now recovered from her injury. We also said farewell to Mike Brown (JB's Dad) who's off back to Canada, giving up the warm Jakarta weather for a forecast on arrival of -29 °C! - well at least he got Sarah back playing again!
The course was very busy in the morning with some 167 players which led to our semi shotgun start more or less on time. The course had run out of caddies's in the morning so it was a case of all hand's on deck resulting in some of us having to start caddie-less. That was quickly sorted after a couple of holes and the afternoon continued with good pace. Everyone was finished in good time to enjoy the early evening in the Sunset Bar.
So, to the play: A good mix of winners this week - we always like to see that!
The big hitters showed their finesse in hitting greens as well this week with Axel and Steve Sutton taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes. Jacob Smith and Alberto Gonzales were the ones who kept their tee shots in the fairways - no mean feat on this course - to take the Longest Drive prizes, whilst Bobby Cangkrama and Indar Dhaliwal showed their accuracy with their approach shots taking the Drive & Pitch honours.
It took a count back to decide who's flat stick was working the best with Jude Alexander taking the honours away from Roger this time!. Detlef and Sri celebrated their return to the D.O.G.S. by enjoying the afternoon stroll and walking away with the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies.
The Low Gross wasn't so low this time - but Axel took the honours - this could make the Low Gross Average over the 4 qualifying rounds interesting!
Again, it took a count back to determine the top prizes with Kevin, Divya and Eric all on 37 points. The result - well, Divya had to settle for the Runner Up slot, Kevin had to think of what might have been leaving Eric Mary to go home with the Little Dog as this week's Champion.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
Well, we thought last week would be the moving week but no, at least not compared to this week. Big changes at the top of the Eclectic Leaderboard with Ash being replaced by Steve Sutton at the top. However, there's only 3 points separating the top 10 and the odd bogey or two to get rid of - so still room for some improvements. It really does look as if this one is going to go right down to the last putt on the last green next week. Check out the full results here.
The Big Dog will be leading his pack next week for our final round at Imperial where we will have a semi shotgun at 12:30pm so please be there in good time to get to your starting holes.
To avoid disappointment due to our 44 player restriction, get signed up early for the next round. Do you like to go ahead and hole out anyway after your putt has been conceded in match play. That could prove costly as this video demonstrates.
