Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,
Another good turnout for our penultimate round at Modern with 46 players showing up. We were greeted with heavy rain upon arrival at the course which, for a while, looked as if it was going to seriously disrupt events. However it all stopped by 1pm and we got underway with the usual shotgun start. A dry afternoon, albeit not the course, resulted with everyone finishing in good time.
Welcome to newcomer Alex Macgregor and welcome back Dave Prosser and Patrick Chaundy safely out of quarantine.
We started off by presenting the Hole-in-One certificate and trophy to Holger Molendyk courtesy of Riverside Golf Club during our final series last year; congratulations again! We nearly had another hole-in-one this week with Jude Alexander just missing out by a couple of centimetres; he did make the birdie putt though!!! Jude also took one of the Drive & Pitch prizes but not quite so close to the hole.
Other skills prizes went to Patrick Chaundy for Nearest the Pin, Dave Keddington and Gaurav Shirke had their drivers working taking the Longest Drive honours with Shawn Berg taking the other Drive & Pitch prize. Sami Kekonen clearly had his putter working with an impressive 25 putts to be this week’s Putting Champion.
Sandra Novita got good value today by playing slightly more golf than the rest of us, but she went away with two prizes by taking both the Booby and Most Exercise honours. At least you won something Sandra, which is more than most of us!!
80 off the stick was good enough for Dave Keddington to take the Lowest Gross prize and Ezra Alexander was this week’s Runner Up on count back with 39 points. This week’s Champion and the winner of the Little Dog with 42 points was Monsieur Eric Mary; félicitations et bravo!
Congratulations to all of this week's winners!
The full standings can be seen through the links on our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app.
With only the final round to go the Eclectic is still wide open with lots of movement since last week. Holger has been kicked out of the top place by Tribhuvan Singh but there’s still only 4.2 points between the top 10 and, as we have seen so many times before, that can be breached. So, next week all will be decided for the Big Dog and Blue Jacket.
It’s also very tight at the top of the Lowest Gross table with anyone in the top levels able to leapfrog to take the honours. Should be an exciting final week at Modern before we move to Pondok Cabe (registration is open now on mygolf2u).
As you know, we are limited on numbers at Modern and we have already nearly reached full capacity so please register as soon as possible. If you find registration is full please let us know so we can put you on the waiting list and, again please, if anyone has to cancel please de-register on the app and let us know. Thanks.
So grab a friend and sign up for next week’s round. Please let Rod know your group preferences as soon as possible. We are likely to have a shotgun start again so please be there in good time.
