Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,
A modest field of 20 players turned up for our Penultimate round at Pondok Cabe. The skies looked ominous in the morning, but the weather fined up in the afternoon, with a heavy breeze that was being used as a rueful excuse by many players later in the day. The starter punched a gap in the field and got us all away on time and although it was a bit slow in the early stages, the round went at good pace with few hold-ups.
It was a good day for scoring, as evidenced by the Bobby Prize being a reasonable 24 points, and Most Exercise not too shabby at 110 strokes. Dirk Kruip and Jochen Overberg can probably feel a little hard done by to pick up those prizes with those numbers. Rudie Basson gave the day's putting lesson with 27 puts. The Longest Drive flags were identical with Simon Oxley in the 1st group putting it on out there, then David Prosser coming along in the group behind him to show what a real drive was, that of course meant that the mere humans in the groups behind could only look in awe.
Congratulations to Amol Singhal who took the Little Dog home, and to Tim Knight for providing the 5th consecutive sub-80 lowest gross, with 79 off the stick. The race for the Big Dog looks to get very hot next week with Pieter Nielen-Groen looking to get a new pin for his blue jacket, and four players within 2 strokes of him.
Make sure you join us for the grand finale at Pondok Cabe next Saturday, for our last round this close to town, before we head back to the wet season courses on the tollway.
