Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Well the Pawang Hujan certainly did his stuff for our second round at Modern as the conditions were just about perfect for golf. 52 players turned out for a great afternoon with the course being dry and the greens fairly consistent.
Some newcomers this week as we welcomed Craig O'Donnell, Mikko LaValley - although they have been with us before, but it was a long time ago - and Lee Jones and Tarlok Singh - hope to see all of you again soon please!
We also, sadly, had to say So Long to Gaurav Shirke who is moving on to pastures new - hope you come back from time to time and thank you for your support over the years. Good to see him with all his trophies, including his Big Dogs from Matoa in 2020 and Imperial in 2022!
Overall the pace of play was very good with our usual semi shotgun on time. The exceptions were 2 par 3's; in each case the quick pace resumed once players finished the par 3's. To keep play moving we urge everyone to pay attention to the Call On signs and call on the group behind once the leading group has all balls on the green. This will help us move more smoothly through these choke points.
So to the play:
Jude Alexander and Hitoshi Maruyama hit accurate tee shots to take the Nearest to the Pin honours as did Nic Verdenal and Shinta Sari with their approach shots to take the Drive & Pitch prizes. The Longest Drive honours went to Willie Noronha and Gaurav Shirke.
It took a count back to determine the Putting Champion with Vijay Sarashetti taking the honours. Abijit Singh had a long day taking both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies home.
Chris Anderson was on his game winning the Lowest Gross and again, we needed a count back to determine the top prizes with Don Duttlinger having to settle for the Runner Up position so Paul Barnett could step up and win his second Little Dog and become this week's Champion.
A big congratulations to all our winners this week!
So, now with two rounds completed things are starting to take shape on the Eclectic Leaderboard with Chris Anderson taking an early lead. However, there's a very long way to go but you can see the full results after the second round results on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.
Next week is our third round and we are playing on SUNDAY and Tee Set will be joining us. As usual, in these cases, it will be run as a D.O.G.S. round for Eclectic reasons so all players will be registered in the D.O.G.S. system on myGolf2u.
So, grab a friend and please sign up early to avoid disappointment and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
