Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Well we did better this week than last, although not perfect. The weather had promised to hold for the 55 players who made the journey the short distance down the Jagorawi Toll for an afternoon of golf, but alas no!.
Please note that we are limited to 56 players so if, for any reason, you register and subsequently need to cancel, please let us know as soon as you can and de-register on the app. This is simply to give the players who might be on the waiting list a chance to join the fun - thanks. Please note that for the 4th week, the 27th January, we will have our annual matchplay against POCKSIA and we do have some extra slots booked for this.
A couple of welcome guests this week in Christopher and James Brister and a few faces we haven't seen for a while - Luca Parolin, Juan Carlos Portillo, Dennis & Gracie Prangel and Thijs Penning, all back after New Year traveling.
Even though we got off on time thunder was heard in the distance after a few holes and got too close for comfort about the time most people had completed around 12 or so holes.
So, we all headed back to the club house to wait and see the outcome. Around half the field called it a day whereas the other half stuck it out and returned to play their remaining holes - just about in daylight.
An important point on safety - when you hear the siren or your caddie or marshal says you should stop and return to the club house, please do so. The courses off the Jagorawi Toll road are in one of the most lightning strike prone areas in the world!
Just a note also on Rain Checks: If you used your rain check from last week for Saturday's game, I'm afraid you don't get another one if you didn't finish up to 12 holes. If you didn't play last week and didn't finish this week you are entitled to a rain check where you will only pay IDR490.000 next week or whenever you next play and the club reception has the list of who you are. Obviously, if you finished last Saturday then you're done on the rain check issue.
So with only half the field completing the round we decided the Little Dog would have to have another week off but we did give away some goodies through a lucky draw.
We did have a little bit of old business to take care of - Nic Verdenal's Lowest Gross Average Trophy from the last Eclectic from Pondok Cabe in 2023.
We did award one skills prize - to Shinta Sari for what can only be described as the closest to a hole-in-one without actually being one on Hole 4 - so near yet so far!

So, as you can imagine, the Eclectic is struggling as there are still many players who haven't completed the full 18 holes yet. Not surprisingly, this is reflected in the results so far - but there's still plenty of time yet - hopefully with no lightning and rain.
However, you can see the results of that on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.
So we move to the third round so, grab a friend and please sign up early to avoid disappointment and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!
