D.O.G.S. & TeeSet Weekend at Rancamaya Golf & Country Club

Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!

We enjoyed a refreshing 1-week break for Idul Fitri, but everyone was eager to return to play. This weekend is always highly anticipated by both D.O.G.S. and TeeSet. With plenty of golf to play, a dinner barbecue, and an abundance of refreshments provided by San Miguel, everything was set for an outstanding weekend. Saturday featured the final round of the D.O.G.S. Eclectic Tournament, and if that wasn't enough, there was also the annual match play competition for the Juergen Degert Trophy. The course offered us a shotgun start from holes 1 through 9, and play commenced right on schedule.

Forty players were going at it head to head in the match play; the defending champion D.O.G.S. were keen to keep the trophy but TeeSet desperately wanted to get it back. The competition was intense with most of the matches going to the last hole. Ultimately, the D.O.G.S. triumphed, securing a 7-3 victory to remain champions.

As the Eclectic unfolded simultaneously, the usual prizes were up for grabs. Tom Grace and Eric Mary claimed the Nearest to Pin honours. Paul Eckhardt showcased his power with two massive drives, earning both Long Drive awards, and also demonstrated his deft skill with a Drive & Pitch win.

Roger Finnie emerged as the Putting Champion, while Tikky made her husband Paul Barnett proud by winning the Booby Prize and Most Exercise. Anirudh Katre secured the Lowest Gross title. Sepand Zarrabi settled for Runner Up, narrowly losing out on count back to Weekly Champion Mark Ryan, who was visiting from California.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners!

With Match Play concluded and weekly prizes awarded, there was still some important business to address. The top 10 saw significant shifts, with several players making impressive strides up the leaderboard. Axel Hertzke maintained his consistent performance to secure the Lowest Gross Champion title and claimed 3rd Place in the Eclectic. Roger Finnie achieved four improvements, propelling him into Second Place. Our new 2026 Rancamaya Eclectic Champion made two crucial improvements in the final round, proving to be decisive. Congratulations to Eric Mary!

Following the results, additional prizes were awarded in our raffle, and everyone enjoyed dinner at the clubhouse. Observing the state of many players on Sunday morning, it was evident that the party extended late into the night, with rumours indicating it continued back at the hotel.

Sunday morning greeted us with clear skies, and after the intense match play and eclectic pressure from the late night, everyone was thrilled to be playing a scramble instead of stroke play. In most scrambles, players must contribute a set number of drives each. Not at the Rod Williams Memorial Charity Scramble. Dice were distributed to all team captains, and after each tee shot, the dice were rolled to determine whose drive would be used. It was a recipe for some exciting drama on the course.

Securing 3rd place was JB's Gang, featuring John & Sarah Brown, Aknes, and Jacob Smith. The Runners Up were KD's Raiders, composed of Kevin Dobson, Craig Edwards, and Tony Wood. Dominating the 2026 Rod Williams Memorial Charity Scramble, the Fairway Diplomats, consisting of Paul Barnett, Saowanee "Tikky" Siriwat, Jens & Shinta Roestel, clinched first place with an impressive net score of 56.

We successfully raised 15,000,000 IDR for the Panti Asuhan Kristen Karena Doa orphanage in Depok. Rod and Dewi Williams have a longstanding commitment to supporting this orphanage, and we are proud to carry on this support.

Over the weekend, we successfully addressed some old business by awarding Tim Knight his D.O.G.S. Jakarta Interleague MVP trophy from 2025, and Roger Finnie collected his Little Dog from round 4.

Lastly, a big thank you to Adhe for expertly managing the registration and scoring, and to Apple & Hazel for ensuring the group stayed well hydrated with their timely deliveries of ice-cold San Miguel beverages throughout both days.

Next week we return to an old favourite we haven't been to for 2 years. A scenic track which combines tight fairways, water in play, and tricky greens that can quickly undo a good round. It’s a course that rewards smart play — and punishes anything less.

Due to a previous booking at the course our first round will be played on SUNDAY. Register now and let JB know your grouping preference.
