D.O.G.S. Third Round at Riverside Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,

Considering all the other activity on the weekend, a good field of 30 players turned out for the D.O.G.S./HOGs Day at Riverside. The run of great weather continued and as usual, a good time was had by all.

Welcome to Marcel van Til who turned up for his first round with the D.O.G.S. Looking forward to seeing more of you Marcel.

Axel Hertzke got the best of the scoring with 81 off the stick, and picked up a Nearest the Pin Prize on the way. Remon Moerman managed to win both Drive & Pitch prizes so at least he had four great shots!!!!! The Little Dog was a close run thing with Craig Edwards rising to the occasion to shade out Axel on a countback for Weekly Champion.

It was again a pleasure to host the HOGs, and Edwin Thieroff kept up the tradition of the HOGs taking a prize every time with a monster shot to win Longest Drive on the 9th.

Thanks to all, our efforts raised 5,250,000 IDR, the equivalent of one operation for the YHOG supported charity, the Gunter Cleft Foundation. The D.O.G.S. are very proud to be able to achieve such a worthy outcome for a day’s golf.

Get off the couch, grab a friend and sign up to play.

Scorecards

A lot of effort goes into preparing personalized scorecards prior to our rounds. Using these scorecards makes things easier for updating the standings after a round. Please don't forget to pick up your scorecards prior to the round starting. If you are late and the D.O.G.S. are not in the clubhouse you can find your scorecard attached to, or on a table next to, the pairings board. If you didn't sign up in time for us to make you a scorecard there are always blanks printed which can be used.

Should all the blank scorecards be gone, go ahead and use a course scorecard and keep track of your putts. You can look up your handicap or we will help you find it and complete the Stableford scoring following the round.

D.O.G.S. Vs Tee Set

If you haven't booked your room for the D.O.G.S. versus Tee Set weekend at Rancamaya you should do so soon.

Details for the weekend can be found on our website here.

Drop us a note or let D.O.G.S. Captain Mark Johnson know if you would like to represent the D.O.G.S. please let us know.

Rancamaya Schedule

As mentioned last week, due to timing of Lebaran this year we only have 4 weeks at Rancamaya and therefore will be altering our format. Let us know your feedback on the proposed schedule below. Are you happy with this schedule? Would you like to suggest an alternative?

Week 1: Alternate Shot format.

Players A and B partner with one another on an alternate shot team, or side. They decide among themselves who tees off first on the first hole. Let's say they decide on Player A to hit the opening tee ball. So on the first hole, A hits the tee shot. They walk to the ball, and Player B hits the second shot. The third stroke is played by Player A. Then Player B hits the fourth. They alternate hitting shots until the ball is in the hole.

They also alternate hitting tee shots, so since in our example, Player A hit the drive on the first hole, on the second hole Player B tees off, and so on throughout the round.

Week 2: Potluck Pairings where groups are chosen randomly allowing for players to mix in with others they may not have played with before. Competition will be Stableford with a Little Dog awarded to the highest points.

Week 3: D.O.G.S. vs Tee Set match with Stableford competition run alongside.

Week 4: Red vs Blue Team competition. Teams will be drawn randomly on day of play and proceed to have a match play competition.
