Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Players were eager to get started with several players arriving early and out on the putting green and driving range honing their skills. The starter was able to get the group off ahead of schedule and once again the D.O.G.S. were blessed with good weather in their hunt for improvements.
A steady pace of play saw all players finishing in good time and able to enjoy some tasty San Miguel beverages and share stories of great shots and missed opportunities from their rounds while the results were being compiled.
Welcome to Joe Alexander, Robbie Nohreiter and Yuzu Iguchi who all played their first D.O.G.S. rounds, and welcome back to Herlyn Fransiska and Peter Cue. We hope to see you all back soon.
Notably absent were John Gustke and Dewi Wardoyo who decided hiking Mt. Rinjani in the rain was a better way to spend a Saturday then enjoying the lush fairways in the sun. John had been playing some good golf and found himself in 10th place within striking distance of the top spot.
It was an exciting week for skill prizes, with a mix of fresh faces and some familiar ones winning. Gary Milburn and Paul Barnett threw some darts to take Nearest to Pin. The big question was whether Gary was happy about his birdie or dismayed about not getting a hole in one? Rey Moore and newcomer Robbie smashed it with Long Drives. Bill Lloyd and Claudio Ghelli both nailed their second shots to each win a Drive & Pitch. Claudio also took home the title of this week's Putting Champion. Ash Hewitt joined the fun and snagged the Booby Prize, while Peter made a grand return to D.O.G.S. by claiming Most Exercise. Claudio wasn't finished as he was back on stage to collect Lowest Gross, and Rey made another podium appearance as Runner Up. After a long break, Herlyn returned with a bang, capturing the Little Dog as Weekly Champion!
Going into the final round things were tight; Jacob Smith was hanging onto a one shot lead and hoping to stay at the top. Second place Jaako Valli was away this week and hoping he wouldn't fall too far. Jude Alexander sitting in 3rd had dreams of winning his second Big Dog in front of visiting big brother Joe. Hitoshi Maruyama was coming back after a 2 week absence saw him fall from the lead into 4th place hoping he could make enough improvements to catch Jacob to get the Blue Jacket he has been so desperately chasing. The rest of the players in the top 10 were hoping to make some improvements and climb the leaderboard to glory.
Once the final putts were made and the scores tallied up it was evident that getting improvements in the final is easier to talk about than do. Most of the top 10 got 1 or no improvements. However, 2 guys did come out to score; Gary Milburn made 5 improvements to move from 19th into 10th and Claudio got 4 which saw him move from 9th to Runner Up. Claudio did get the pleasure of raising the trophy for Modern 2025 Lowest Gross Champion. Hitoshi was only able to scrape up 1 improvement but it did get him a Mini Dog for 3rd. Jacob Smith also only managed 1 improvement, which wasn't even needed as he finished 2 points clear, to win his first Big Dog and become Modern Golf & Country Club 2025 Eclectic Champion. Well done Jacob!

Collections from the Charity Barrel reached an impressive 6,165,000 IDR for our Modern Tournament. This amount will be donated to the ISCO Foundation, which provides education to over 2,500 disadvantaged children in Indonesia. The German Open Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 23rd, 2025, at Jagorawi, in support of ISCO, where we will proudly present our donation to them. Next weekend the D.O.G.S. travel to Cilegon with TeeSet for the 2nd Annual Royale Krakatau Challenge on Saturday and Sunday. There is still time to sign up in myGolf2u. Details for the weekend can be found here.
The fourth eclectic tournament of 2025 will commence the following weekend at a favourite D.O.G.S. venue, renowned for its breathtaking scenery and challenging holes set amidst abundant natural beauty and fresh air. Please register early and inform Rod or JB of your preferred playing partners.
