Penultimate Round at Rainbow Hills Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

Heavy traffic due to an overturned container on the toll road meant most players arrival was delayed. Nonetheless partial groups headed to the first tee boxes on Mountain and Forest and by the time their turn to tee off came the stragglers had arrived. As has been the case for the entire tournament players enjoyed a day in the rain. Not too heavy but enough to make sure everyone got a good soaking. The rains broke late in the 2nd nine and made for a very enjoyable finish. Dogs who went off Forest were rewarded with a quick round and finished in good time. The Mountain groups weren't as lucky but did manage to finish albeit in the darkness. Après round beverages were once again provided by San Miguel.

Welcome back to our antipodean Dog Chris Anderson who made his way up from the Land of Oz for a round.

Chris made his presence known by being the last name on Forest Nearest to Pin flag while Laurie O'Connor took the other. Jeremy Oberoi and Aknes flexed their muscles as the Longest Drive winners while Jens Muller and President JB showed off their skills, each putting 2 good shots back to back to take Nearest to Pin honours. As a surprise to absolutely nobody Richard Mau took Putting Champion, Lowest Gross and Runner Up accolades. Not to be outdone Paul Barnett showed he could also win multiple prizes scooping up the Booby Prize and Most Exercise trophies. The big news of the day was Aknes who posted a great round in the wet conditions scoring 45 points to become Weekly Champion!

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.

Full results can be found on the leaderboard.

Moving into our final week we have Aknes and Joe Phua sitting at the top of the leaderboard with Toshi and Roger lurking closely behind. The rest of the hungry pack is well within striking distance as there are just 4 points of separation between 1st and 10th. Next week is set up for an exciting finish.

Speaking of a close separation between places; on Friday a large contingent of Dogs joined the Fiona Foundation Charity Golf Tournament. 2 full teams were made up of Dogs with others scattered amongst the rest of the field. The Dogs teams finished net 71 and 73 respectively but in true D.O.G.S. fashion, and thanks an unfathomable handicap system, these teams sandwiched the field taking 1st and last place respectively. This, much to the astonishment of 2 teams full of ringers who posted scores of 10 and 12 under net!🤣 Go D.O.G.S.!

The big winners were, of course, the Fiona Unity Foundation charity of which the D.O.G.S are proud to be supporters.
