D.O.G.S. Final Round at Rainbow Hills Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,

So we came to our final round of the Rainbow Hills Eclectic Series with a total of 41 players making the final trip up the hill, at least for now, to battle with the Forest and Stone courses.

Some newcomers this week with a big welcome to Dean Merrilees and his wife Siti Fatimah as well as Han Peng Chng. A great welcome back after 6 years to an old D.O.G.S. stalwart, Frank Musgrove and his partner Lia. Good to see all of you, old and new!

Another busy day at the course but we managed to get off just about on time. Play wasn't as fast as we may have liked due to some non-D.O.G.S. on the course and the threat of rain - which eventually came - meant that not all groups finished - fortunately just the last hole or two were missed - unfortunate, but we can't control the weather or how busy the course is in the morning. Just to remind you all again please - if you don't finish then you should put an "X" down for that hole on your scorecard and leave mygolf2u blank. Please check out the rules on our Rules page.

So, now to the play:

Well the ladies were on form again this week with Reysia Moore and Stephanie Rina taking the Longest Drive prizes. The boys, however, showed their accuracy with Indar Dhaliwal and Vijay Sarashetti taking the Nearest to the Pin honours and Axel Hertzke and Jeremy Oberoi winning the Drive & Pitch prizes. Dougie McQuater showed us how to putt becoming this week's Putting Champion but Ralph Duckworth had a long day winning both the Booby and Most Exercise honours - and that was after he negotiated a really good deal for some balls on the 7th tee but promptly managed to lose most of them during the rest of his round!!!

James Bristow took the Lowest Gross this week. Rod Williams had a good day managing this week's Runner Up prize which left our President John Brown taking the Little Dog home - where it was in the first place - becoming our final Weekly Champion for this series.

Congratulations to all our winners this week.

So we come to the BIG DOG. Well Jeremy Oberoi managed to hold off all challengers taking his second Blue Jacket and Big Dog.

Congratulations Jeremy.

Richard Mau took the Lowest Gross Champion trophy.

Congratulations to all the top ten winners.

The full standings can be seen through the links on our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app.

There was also one match play this week towards the President's Challenge: Sarah Brown defeated Dave Keddington 4 & 3.

Our Charity this series was the Yaysan Al Hijrah, an orphanage near Bogor and you donated 7,683,000 IDR over the 6 weeks to a very worthy cause. Thanks to everyone!

We would also like to thank and welcome our newest sponsor JS Luwansa Hotel and Convention Center Jakarta. Thank you Richard Mau for making this possible.

So, we move on to our next Eclectic Series which will be at Imperial Klub Golf for the first time since 2014! A new challenge for some and an old favourite for many.

In a match, a player’s ball lodges in a bush. As the player is weighing up her options, she notices that the bush itself is growing within ground under repair (GUR), but the ball is on a branch that overhangs the course and is outside of the line marking the GUR. She takes free relief using the spot on the ground directly underneath where the ball lies in the bush to measure out her relief area. She then drops the ball in the right way and makes a stroke from its new position. What is the correct ruling?

A - The player loses the hole for playing from the wrong place.

B - There is no penalty.

C - The stroke does not count.

Correct answer B

Explanation: If the bush is rooted in GUR, then any branch overhanging the course is part of that GUR.

As Player A is preparing to play onto the green, he asks Player B whether there is a bunker located behind the green and what the distance is to the centre of the green. Player B answers both questions. What is the penalty?

A - Both players get the general penalty.

B - There is no penalty.

C - A gets four penalty strokes.

Correct answer B

Explanation: Advice does not include public information. (distance, location of bunker, penalty areas etc.)

For relief without penalty to be available, temporary water must be visible before the player takes her stance.

A - True

B – False

Correct answer B

Explanation: For free relief the temporary water must be visible before or after the player takes her stance. If water is seen around the shoes after the player took her stance it is temporary water.
