Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,
With a lot of people away for various reasons a modest 33 players turned out for what was a beautiful, warm, sunny afternoon’s golf. The usual mini shotgun got us all off on time and play proceeded at a good pace having everyone back in the club house with the sun still very much shining.
Good to see Colin Shanks back after a long absence eager to claim his usual Most Exercise prize; it was waiting for you Colin!
The day started with a truly historic event, Michael Mueller straight from having his driver fitted to suit his unique swing he was ready to go starting on the 3rd hole, you will all remember there is a drinks station at the 3rd tee box, and much to his playing companions shock, but delight, Herr Mueller offered to buy everyone in the group a beer; truly a first! His driving was also much improved as well; probably due to the beer and recent hair cut! Keep it up Michael!
Anyway, down to the play of the day highlights. Jens Roestel and George Stretton took the Nearest to the Pin prizes; George’s first and Dave “I can do nothing wrong” Keddington and Jude Alexander the Longest Drive honours with Richard Mau and Rajeev Rajeswaran the Drive & Pitch prizes. Willy Noronha showed us all how to putt becoming this week’s Putting Champion. Now Leon Bivolaru should look on the positive side in at least taking home something with a whopping 27 points for this week’s Booby Prize and yes, Colin Shanks achieved his goal of winning the Most Exercise with a pretty respectable score, maybe your days of winning this prize are numbered! That should jinx him!
Richard Mau clearly had a good day taking the Lowest Gross and two newcomers for the top prizes this week with Akhil Aggarwal being our Runner Up and Mr Tasty Greens himself, Avnish Patankar taking home his first Little Dog and becoming our Weekly Champion.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners!
The full standings can be seen through the links on our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app.
So with only one more round to go, Dave Keddington holds onto his lead in the Eclectic Series and the Lowest Gross Average but there’s still time as we so often see.
There were no matchplays this week but just a gentle reminder to those who need to play their first rounds please!
Sunday was the second round of this year’s Inter-league with Captain Dougy leading a strong D.O.G.S. team to a big win against Sandbaggers 6 and 4, with 1 win and 4 halved. A very close match with every game going to the last hole. Well done everybody on a great result! No mean feat to take down the highly fancied Sandbaggers. Lots of great golf from everyone, but special mentions must go to Dave Moore for securing another win, only to be outdone by his other half, Rey Moore, who shot an incredible eagle, wow, and Michael Mueller who birdied hole index 1, not many people can do that!
So let’s get ready for our final round at Pondok Cabe with the Big Dog and Blue Jacket up for grabs. A reminder to all those who have Blue Jackets to bring them this Saturday. Also, just to remind everyone, after Pondok Cabe we will move to Rancamaya with a 4 week Eclectic Series so we can finish before Idul Fitri. Registration is open either through the website or mygolf2u as usual.

A player makes a stroke on the putting green with the flagstick in the hole. Her ball comes to rest against the flagstick with part of the ball below the surface of the putting green. The ball is considered holed.
A - True
B - False
Correct answer A
Explanation: If a ball comes to rest against the flagstick left in the hole, and any part of the ball is in the hole below the surface of the putting green, the ball is treated as holed.
A player addresses his ball on the fairway, but before playing his shot, changes his mind on his club selection. He returns to his bag, and when changing his club, a gust of wind causes his ball to roll down a slope several feet from its original position. What is the ruling?
A - The player gets a penalty of one stroke and must replace the ball.
B - There is no penalty and the ball must be played from its new position.
C - There is no penalty and the ball must be replaced.
Correct answer B
Explanation: As natural forces caused the player's ball to move, there is no penalty and the ball must be played from its new spot.
When dropping a ball under a Rule, a player drops the ball in the right way twice and both times the ball comes to rest just outside the relief area, no nearer the hole. What is the ruling?
A - The player must place a ball anywhere in the relief area.
B - The player must continue dropping until a ball comes to rest in the relief area.
C - The player must place a ball on the spot where the ball dropped the second time, first touched the ground.
Correct answer C
Explanation: If a ball has been dropped in the right way twice and both times comes to rest outside the relief area, the player must complete taking relief by placing a ball on the spot where the ball dropped the second time, first touched the ground (Rule 14.3c)
