D.O.G.S. Penultimate Round at Sedayu Indo Golf

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!

So we came to our fifth and penultimate round of this Eclectic series at Sedayu Indo Golf with another great turnout of 44 players.

Again we had our usual shotgun start on time and with a good pace of play everyone was finished and back in the Links Whisky & Wine Bar in very good time.

Great to see an old face back after a number of years - Marco Hernaiz - as well as some guests, James Henshaw, Joerg Wintermantel, Justin Pianca, John Dotch, Ronald Hioka and Tommi Vaanaen. Always good to see new faces - welcome to all - and to some faces we don't see often enough - Bilal Aleem and Emiliano Marcelo.

So to the play: a good mix of winners this week - we like to spread the love! Emiliano Marcelo and Eric Mary showed good accuracy off the tee taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes whilst Justin Pianca and Laurent Bessieres showed us the accuracy of their approach shots taking the Drive & Pitch honours. Richard Mau and Aknes Berkenhoff had great drives which stayed on the fairways taking the Longest Drive prizes. Jay Punongbayan got his putter working being this week's Putting Champion on a 4 player count back! Richard Mau was on good form scoring the Lowest Gross prize.

A big cheer went up when it was announced that our illustrious President, John Brown took this week's Booby Prize and Ralph Duckworth didn't go away empty handed taking the Most Exercise trophy.

This left Emiliano Marcelo to take the Runner Up prize this week and Michael Mueller not only winner his matchplay against Sarah (2 up) but also taking the Little Dog home becoming our Weekly Champion for the week. Mr. & Mrs. Brown clearly did not have their best day!!!

Congratulations to all our winners - as always !!!

Christian and Aknes Berkenhoff decided to show off their D.O.G.S. spoils in the photo - but note the Little Dog belongs to Aknes and ALL the Most Exercise and Booby trophies belong to Christian!!!

So with only one round left in the race for the Big Dog it's getting very tight at the top of the leaderboard with both Richard Mau and Sami Kekonen making gains this week resulting in only 0.4 separating the top 3 with still room for improvement. Will the winner come out of the top 3 or will, as we see so many times, a real outsider have the round of their lives and leapfrog to the top. There's only one way to find out, by joining in the fun this coming SUNDAY! You can check out the full results through our Leaderboard page or in the mygolf2u app as usual.

Previous champions are reminded to wear their Blue Jackets after the round next week.

So, as we always say; grab a friend, please sign up early and let Rod know your preferred playing partners.

A player's ball is found by another player 2 minutes and 50 seconds after she began searching for the ball. It takes the player 30 seconds to get to her ball and identify it as hers. As the ball was identified after the three minute search time had finished, the ball is considered lost?

A - True

B - False

Correct answer: B

Explanation: If a ball is found within three minutes of the player or her caddie starting to search for it, the player is allowed a reasonable time to identify the ball, even if that happens after the three-minute search has ended.

A player is entitled to free relief from tractor marks in the general area when the grass is cut to fairway height.

A - True

B – False

Correct answer: B

Explanation: If the area is nor marked GUR there is no free relief.

In match play, a player's ball is in a penalty area in some shallow water, but he decides to play it as it lies. He deliberately touches the water in the penalty area on his backswing.

What is the ruling?

A - There is no penalty.

B - The player gets one penalty stroke.

C - The player gets two penalty strokes.

Correct answer: A

Explanation: There are no special Rules limiting how a ball may be played from

a penalty area, meaning there is no restriction on a player touching water in a

penalty area with his backswing.

In stroke play, if a player, when starting a hole, plays from outside the teeing area, the player incurs a penalty of two strokes and the ball must be played as it lies.

A - True

B – False

Correct answer: B

Explanation: If a player, when starting a hole, plays a ball from outside the

teeing area, he or she incurs a penalty of two strokes and must then play a ball

from within the teeing area. If the player does not correct the mistake before

making a stroke to begin another hole or, for the final hole of the round, before returning his or her scorecard, the player is disqualified.
