D.O.G.S. Third Round at Pondok Cabe Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

Straight from the Pertamina Masters tournament the day before the course was in great condition and the weather was hot but dry - we were very lucky as they did have rain delays on the Saturday.

The day saw our friends from TeeSet joining us for their annual Championship tournament followed by their big party. So with the two weekend societies together and all eligible for both the third round of our Eclectic and their Championship, we had 75 players in total - a great turnout for which the club closed the course. This always makes the shotgun easier.

We also had the first look at the newly renovated mens locker room - a big improvement - could still do with some new towels though!

TeeSet provided Bloody Mary's and breakfast for those who had already registered for their Championship and for a very modest extra charge for those who had not. This got things underway in the usual spirit of these events and with the shotgun start off both nines we all got underway in good time. Obviously those who usually play on Sunday afternoon take a slightly more leisurely approach than the Saturday gang as play for some was a bit slow at times (dig dig...hehe) - but not enough to hold up everyone finishing in good time and getting ready for the evening festivities.

So, down to the play: All players were eligible for all prizes in the D.O.G.S. tournament so we had Michael Mueller and Ash Hewitt taking the Nearest to the Pin prizes and David Moore and Emiliano Marcelo also managing to hold the fast greens taking the Drive & Pitch prizes. Tancrede Lot and Emiliano Marcelo held onto the fairways taking the Longest Drive prizes.

Renny Verdenal had the flat stick working well becoming this week's Putting Champion whilst Bob Fleischmann must have had too many of his hotdogs as he went home with both the Booby and Most Exercise Trophies - better luck next time Christian!

Lowest Gross went to Nic Verdenal on a count back! This left John Brown to take the Runner Up prize and John Gustke to win the Little Dog this week and become our Weekly Champion. A big shortage of photos this week guys......I have no doubt there will be more from Teeset when they get their post out!

A big congratulations to all this week's winners.

So, now to the Eclectic; things are heating up at the top with only 1.1 points separating the top 5 and only 0.1 separating the top 2 with Jude Alexander just holding onto the lead from Nic Verdenal but both Viboon and Ash are away for the remaining 3 rounds so there's a lot to play for!

You can see the full Eclectic results on the Leaderboard page or in the myGolf2u app as usual.

Our final round of 2023 is December 16th and our End of Year Party will follow immediately after the round in the clubhouse. As always non-playing guests are most welcome and encouraged to attend. Players who register in myGolf2u will be automatically registered for the party. If you do plan on bringing a guest please RSVP here so that we have the correct numbers for catering arrangements. Most importantly, please sign up as soon as possible, this will help the committee considerably.

We are looking for sponsors for prizes at the party, please let us know if you know someone who might be interested in sponsorship.

Now we go into our 4th round where we will be back to Saturday this week as usual.

So, grab a friend or two and sign up. Don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners. Please also make sure you have confirmed that your preferred playing partners are their preferred playing partners!

I should point out that the Penultimate Round will be on Sunday, 10th December due to Pondok Cabe hosting another event on the Saturday.

Also note that signing up early helps a lot in getting things ready with the club - thanks.
