Third Round at Rancamaya Golf & Country Club


Hail the D.O.G.S. !!!!!


This week brought a change; we didn't have to contend with the rain, but the wind was relentless. Club selection was crucial, as players needed to be keenly aware of how the wind was influencing their shots.


A big welcome to Giordano Faggioli and Greg Thompson who joined us for their first rounds with the D.O.G.S.



Once again, the D.O.G.S. were fortunate to tee off ahead of schedule, sorry to the late guys. We did give you a heads-up in last week's write up. The lead trio on the front nine—John Brown, Eric Mary, and Harry Kwak—set off briskly and completed the course in under four hours, despite following a non-D.O.G.S. group who were holding up play just a touch. Throughout the round, Harry witnessed quite a spectacle, as both JB and Eric alternated between brilliant play and moments that made one wonder if they even knew which end of the club to hold.


The two of them did manage to hold things together enough to take 3 of the skill prizes with each of them getting Nearest to Pin and sinking the birdie putts. JB also claimed a Drive & Pitch, while Steve Sutton took the other. Axel Hertzke and Alberto Gonzalez shared the long drive honours.


Roger Finnie had a good day on the greens winning Putting Champion. Patrick Chaundy won the Booby Prize while working some rust out of his game. The always cheerful James Southland enjoyed a tour of the course on his way to Most Exercise. Axel had the round of the day winning Lowest Gross. JB was up one more time to collect Runner Up to the Weekly Champion Don Duttlinger.

Big changes in the Top 10 following play this week. The only constant is Axel remaining in 3rd place despite making 3 improvements. Don Duttlinger has claimed the top spot on the leaderboard with a closely packed group chasing him.

The D.O.G.S. & TeeSet Weekend will be here before you know it. Get yourself registered for ASAP. Captain Dougy is looking for players to compete in the match play against TeeSet on Saturday; let him know if you would like to represent the D.O.G.S. Inform John of your scramble team players and team name for the Rod Williams Memorial Charity Scramble.


For those looking for even more golf another society is putting together a game on Friday at Rancamaya. We have seen communications stating that this is associated with the D.O.G.S. & TeeSet Weekend. We encourage anyone seeking an extra game to participate, but please be advised that this event is not part of our weekend activities and does not contribute to our charity drive during that weekend.


Players are reminded to arrive at least 30 minutes before our scheduled tee off time and ready to play. We will proceed with an early start if possible, and those who are late will need to catch up with their groups on the course.


There's no time like the present to register for the next round. Let JB know your grouping preference.

Manila Dogs 25th Anniversary

Our founder, Fritz Hainzl, was originally a member of the Manila Dogs. When he moved to Jakarta, he saw an opportunity and created a similar organization—what we now know as the Djakarta Old Golf Society or D.O.G.S.


On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the Manila Dogs will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila.


Several Dogs are making the trip to Manila to join in the fun. If you are interested in being part of the celebration, please let John know!
