D.O.G.S. First Round at Rancamaya Golf & Country Club

Updated: May 19, 2019

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!,

This week we begin our tilt at Rancamaya Golf & Country Club a course everyone enjoys as evidenced by the 39 players who turned up for our first ever 2 person scramble event.

Welcome to Arya Sena, Avinish Patankar, Bobby, Cory Packard, Franklin Kenny and George Baptiste who all played their first round with us. Thanks for coming out guys and we hope to see you back soon!

Welcome back to David Mckeown who dropped in for his first round in quite a few years. Don't take so long between the next round David.

As we only have 4 rounds at Rancamaya this year we have decided to vary the competitions each week rather than a 4 round Eclectic. The 2 person scramble was on deck this week with pairings done in the clubhouse prior to tee off. Minimum total players handicap for each team was set at 20 and 50% of the sum was used as the team handicap. Play got underway at our scheduled tee time and the format allowed all to move quickly around the course. Good thing as it was quite hot out there.

A small group elected to opt out of the competition and followed the competition playing stroke play. In this group Gary White carded an impressive 71!

All players regardless of scramble or stroke play were eligible for the skill prizes; Amol Singhal and Axel Hertzke were winners of the 2 Nearest to Pin prizes. Sarah Brown and Bobby each took a Longest Drive.

In the much anticipated competition Shawn Berg and Chris Cromarty came in 3rd Place with a net 56, Jari Rahtu and Esko Jäälinoja were our 2nd place finishers with a 54. Our 2019 Rancamaya 2 Person Scramble Champions are Jochen Overberg and Axel Hertzke with 53. Congratulations everyone!

Next week we will have Potluck Pairings; groups will be chosen by random draw which should give everyone the opportunity to play with members who they haven't played with before. Competition format will be Stableford with the highest Stableford score taking home the Little Dog.

Get off the couch, grab a friend and sign up to for our game.

Tee Boxes

For our competitions most Men play from blue tees and Ladies from red. Although clearly stated on our scorecards there is still some confusion on eligibility to play from the white tees. Men over 65 are welcome to play from the whites with the only caveat being they cannot change tees during a tournament. Don't forget to tick the box next to tees used on the scorecard.

Many Dogs are now using Deemples to sign up for our rounds. As Deemples membership is growing they are anxious to host a Monthly Medal in Indonesia and the D.O.G.S. have agreed to help with this. During one of our upcoming Eclectic tournaments we will have a Deemples competition during a Dogs round. To be eligible to play you must have an established Deemples handicap.

To get a handicap you must have 5 scores entered into Deemples. For a score to be counted 2 people, other than the player, must enter the score into Deemples. It is recommended that following your round the foursome enters scores immediately to avoid missing scores.

If you need a primer on entering scores you can find it here.
